NEW PALTZ, NY, USA

If you are interested in a professionaly done description and history with a nice design visit http://www.towntour.com/newpaltz/. That's also where I got the picture above.
Here we would like to share our impression of New Paltz (which will probably end up as a guide which pubs are the best).
During the week, we spent majority of the days at the SUNY campus, but nights were for going out.
The first pub I went into was McGillicuddy's - we all had to show our IDs and Marta, one of the few unfortunate ones who were under 21, had troubles to get in. In the end she got a stamp on her hand. I, however, was let in after two minutes or so during which the guy at the door was studying my ISIC card trying to figure out how old I am. Then frustrated to complete this task, he just waved me in.
Since I was working out every night in the gym and then tried to catch up on my studies, I really am not the right person to judge local nightclubs. I have not been to Joe's (bad music) or P&G's.
I went to local movie theater once (twice actually, but the first visit made longer-lasting impression), since we were offered discounted tickets at $1 a piece. The movie - The Patriot - proved what Robert Jackson had been telling us, American culture is different.
Well, I went once to a night club. Or, better to say, I was dragged there by Nacho. Not that I put up much of a fight. But when we finally got to Cabaloosa, the bouncer at the door refused to let me in and no amount of persuading and pleading helped to change his mind. So I had to go downstairs - along with Marta who was also under 21 and other people who were considerate and did not leave us there alone. But in the end we were allowed to stay upstairs thanks to Fred and we had a really good time. I even did not mind getting soaked wet in the rain on my way back to campus.
Added October 27, 2000 : here is the promised guide to local bars, compiled by Tereza.
Now it sounds like all we saw from New Paltz were night clubs, but that's not true. We also went to visit the oldest street in the USA - the Hugenot Street. You can take a virtual walk - nice pictures and music.
